Tourists Who Stay at Baha Mar Can Get a Private Jet Home if They Test Positive for COVID-19

To ease concerns and promote travel, resorts have begun offering free on-site COVID-19 tests and, in some cases, a free 14-day stay if visitors test positive. The Bahamas’ Baha Mar is one-upping those offers by providing private jet service back to the U.S.

The resort development, which includes Grand Hyatt, SLS, and Rosewood hotels, said it will provide private air travel to return the guest and their immediate family to the U.S., free of charge, if they test positive for COVID-19 prior to departure.

Travel advisors have told Travel Market Report that some clients are apprehensive to travel right now over fear that they could get stuck in another country if they test positive for COVID-19 before returning home.

The Travel with Confidence program also offers courtesy suite accommodations and a daily dining credit of $150 per person per day, for up to 14 days in quarantine.

Graeme Davis, president of Baha Mar, said “In this ever-changing travel environment, it is our goal to alleviate travelers' concerns surrounding COVID-19.”

Following the reopening of Grand Hyatt Baha Mar in December, Baha Mar will complete its phased reopening on March 4, welcoming guests back to SLS Baha Mar, Rosewood Baha Mar, and its signature restaurants and amenities.

Baha Mar's ongoing Commitment to Your Wellbeing initiative provides guests with the latest in COVID-19 safety measures, which include on-site complimentary COVID-19 Rapid Antigen testing upon arrival and prior to departure to assist in guests' compliance with return travel requirements of their country of origin.

Resort standards include weekly COVID-19 testing for associates, enhanced housekeeping and engineering services, heightened food safety and digital ordering, touchless payments, and technology methods that allow for an abundance of contactless experiences from the moment guests check in.

To enter the Bahamas, visitors must obtain a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than five days prior to arrival, and apply for a travel health visa. Travelers are also required to opt-in to COVID-19 health insurance that covers them for the duration of their stay. The cost of insurance is included in the Travel Health Visa application fee.
