After announcing plans last year to add four new super ships over the next three years, Uniworld Boutique River Cruise today announced the names and destinations for its three ships launching in 2020—S.S. Satet, S.S. São Gabriel, and Mekong Jewel.
The ships, which will replace existing Uniworld ships, are part of Uniworld’s plan to transform its fleet, something that began with the launch of S.S. Joie di Vivre in 2017. Each is specifically designed to sail on a different river.
S.S. Satet, named after the goddess of the Nile, will sail 12-day itineraries in Egypt, roundtrip from Cairo, on the Nile River starting on Jan. 6, 2020. It will include three dining venues, along with a private dining room and a separate al fresco experience on its top deck, a swimming pool, massage room, and 42 suites.
S.S. São Gabriel, which will start sailing on the Douro river on March 26, 2020, will sail with its entire top deck dedicated to suite guests with butler service available anytime. It will sail to UNESCO-designated Douro River Valley.
Mekong Jewel, which will debut on Jan. 3, 2020, will sail on the Mekong River and will offer two dining venues—a main restaurant and an al fresco eater on the upper level. It will sail 13-day itineraries from Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap with calls to Phnom Penh, Angkor Wat, and more.
The fourth of Uniworld’s new super ships, the S.S. La Venezia, will replace River Countess, coming into service on March 27, 2020 in Northern Itlay. It will sail 10-day itineraries that start with two-days on land in Milan before an eight-day sailing around Venice, the Po river and three outer-lying Venetian islands: Burano, Mazzorbo and Torcello.
