Emirates Now Offering Seat Reservations On Amadeus

by Barbara Peterson  April 10, 2017

In the latest example of an airline making it easier to book ancillary services, travel agents will now be able to access and book Emirates’ advanced seat reservations through the Amadeus distribution channel.

This allows agents to offer seating choices to clients at the time of purchase, Emirates said – “so travel agents can serve their customers’ broadest needs.”

Emirates also recently launched its branded fares on Amadeus, which allows for more personalized products and bundling of services into one price.

The category of ancillary services has seen enormous growth in recent years, spurring GDSs like Amadeus to devise tools to enable retailers to tap into this market. Currently, 128 airlines have signed up to participate in Amadeus’ Airline Ancillary Services, and 91 of those carriers have implemented the feature.

The ancillary services program has been deployed in all IATA BSP markets, and fully integrated end-to-end.  Amadeus said 2016 saw a 71% increase in ancillaries sold over the previous year.
