Royal Caribbean held a steel-cutting ceremony for its next Oasis Class ship this week at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France.
The celebration marked a major milestone for the yet-to-be-named ship, which is the seventh in the Oasis class. Beginning with 2009’s Oasis at Seas, this class is known for being among the largest cruise ships on the market, with multiple “neighborhoods” that blend dining and entertainment.
Representatives from Royal Caribbean and Chantiers de l’Atlantique gathered at the shipyard to celebrate the first piece of steel being cut for the upcoming ship, making the official start of construction. The ship is expected to launch in the 2028 season; more details, including its name, will be announced at a later date.
Royal Caribbean is also adding to its Icon fleet. Debuting in July 2026, Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas launches in Europe with seven-night Western Mediterranean adventures from Barcelona and Rome (Civitavecchia).
