Manhattan’s Dream Downtown Hotel to Reopen Friday

Dream Hotel Group today announced plans to reopen Dream Downtown in New York City on Friday, Aug. 21.

The Dream Hotels’ east coast flagship location joins other locations Dream Nashville in Tennessee, Dream Hollywood in California and Dream South Beach in Florida, which are all open and welcoming guests back.

Dream Hotel Group CEO Jay Stein said this “marks a major turning point for our company as we begin the road to recovery post-pandemic.”

In preparation for reopening, Dream Hotel Group developed a health and cleanliness plan for all of its hotels, restaurants, and bars.

Dream Downtown guests will be required to wear face coverings while in hotel public spaces, pool deck, and restaurants.

Guestrooms will be left vacant for 24 hours between guests stays, and cleaned with an electrostatic sprayer to ensure that all soft surfaces are also sanitized. All reusable collateral, including newspapers and magazines, have been removed from the rooms.

Limited housekeeping service is available upon request only, and without guests in the room. In-room dining will currently not be available at Dream Downtown.

Restaurants have been arranged to maintain physical distancing with maximum occupancies. Areas such as tables, chairs and booths will be sanitized after each guest use.

The Beach, a 5,000-square-foot rooftop pool scene with Manhattan’s only sand beach, is now open. Due to occupancy limits, pool passes are required for entry to Dream Beach, and are not included with room reservations. Pool guests must stay at least 6 feet away from others while in and out of the pool.

Other enhanced safety standards and technologies at Dream Downtown include: hand sanitizer stations available in high traffic areas; increased frequency of cleaning and disinfection of high touch surfaces including elevator buttons; mandatory temperature checks and health screenings of all staff and vendors prior to entering the premises; new physical distancing guidelines; reconfigured public spaces allowing for proper physical distancing; contactless check-in and check-out; and no-touch payment options.

As for other Manhattan properties – Chatwal New York, Dream Midtown, and The Time New York – Stein said “we will continue to monitor business trends and look forward to sharing news around additional hotel re-openings in New York City soon.
