Viking Cruises Suspends Sailings through August

Viking Cruises on Thursday announced that it will not sail any of its cruises through the end of August, extending its COVID-19 suspensions essentially through the end of summer.
Viking’s Torstein Hagen made the announcement in a message to Viking guests on Thursday, explaining that while some countries are opening up to travelers, complications forced Viking to suspend operations through the end of the summer.
At the moment, the line is aiming for a September return. Viking’s return, Hagen said, will only come with a dedication to the health and safety of its guests and its crew members.
“During this time of non-operation,” Hagen said in his statement, “we are further training our crew and preparing our fleet to welcome you onboard again.”
Viking is offering its guests on impacted sailings a 125% future cruise credit or a full refund of all monies paid.
Viking, which was one of the first cruise companies to suspend operations because of COVID-19, is also getting ready for its first Mississippi River Cruises in 2022, and the debut of its Great Lakes cruises in January 2022.
