Watch Alaska Airlines Recreate ’80s Anthem ‘Safety Dance’ in COVID-19 Safety Video

Alaska Airlines released a new music video this week, parodying the Men Without Hats 1982 song “The Safety Dance,” complete with a pilot playing the keytar and dancing flight attendants.
The video was released Sunday and hopes to make Alaska’s COVID-19 safety protocols, including the yellow cards that Alaska’s flight attendants employ to warn guests who refuse to wear a mask, as catchy and fun as possible for the carrier’s passengers.
“We love safety so much at Alaska Airlines our employees made a music video about it,” Alaska wrote in a blog post releasing the video. “The video features a number of the 100+ ways we’ve focused on keeping our guests and employees safe as part of our Next-Level Care.”
The video features actual Alaska Airlines employees chosen based on workgroups, ability to dance, and leader nominations. It was filmed over two days at Alaska’s Boeing cabin trainer and maintenance hangar in Seattle.
“We are ready to take you anywhere you want to go, to any of the destinations we fly to,” said Jonathon, a designated trainer lead CSA and employee video star. “We’re the safest airline in the skies and we’re still creating an airline people love.”
