Avalon Introduces Lineup of “After Dark” Activities

Avalon Waterways is introducing “Avalon After Dark,” a new series of on-ship and landside activities that extend the typical river cruise day well past dinner.

“Sunsets don’t need to signal the end of the day’s adventure on a river cruise,” said Pam Hoffee, president of Avalon Waterways. “Instead, we’re keeping the night alive with unforgettable experiences, from moonlit toasts on the Sky Deck to impromptu dance parties and late-night explorations made possible by overnight docking in legendary cities and settings.”

Among the new offerings are:

Sky Deck Dinners: New for 2026, Avalon is introducing Sky Grill Dinners. The open-air dining experience will feature grilled specialties, locally-inspired dishes, and more – all timed to correspond with sunset and the rising moon.

Sky Deck After Dark Drinks: The river cruise line is also doubling down on Sky Deck drink service, inviting guests to enjoy warm evenings under the stars, enjoying wine, beer and cocktails.

Letting Loose in the Lounge: Forget Vlad on the piano in the evenings, in 2026 Avalon is taking after-dinner entertainment up a notch. From live music and special performances to themed trivia, karaoke, and themed dance parties, the Panorama Lounge won’t be a quiet spot to enjoy an after-dinner drink anymore.

According to Avalon, the introduction of Avalon After Dark is to encourage guests “to linger in the Panorama Lounge, sipping, swaying, and savoring longer evenings on board.”

Speaking of the Panorama Lounge, the venue is also introducing an all-new bar menu with an elevated collection of premium and non-alcoholic cocktails created by mixologist Martin Hudák.

Moonlit Ports: The fun isn’t limited to the ship. As part of its Avalon After Dark program, Avalon will encourage guests to experience Europe’s cities “after the streetlights flicker on” with more overnight stays. Optional excursions on these late nights might include visiting a ruin bar in Budapest, taking in a classical concert in Vienna, enjoying live jazz in Amsterdam, and more.

“We’re re-writing the script for river cruising after hours,” Hoffee added. “Avalon After Dark promises evenings worth staying up for.”
