Carnival’s P&O Cruises Australia Adds Two Ships
P&O Cruises Australia has added two new ships to its fleet. The cruise line, which is owned by Carnival Corp., now sails a five-ship stable, the largest year-round fleet in Australia, and is the only cruise line based full-time in Australian waters. The new ships include P&O staples like its Pandora jewelry boutique, the new Pantry buffet, and the P&O White party.
Besides Asia, Australia is quickly becoming the new powerhouse in the cruise industry. The number of cruise passengers in Australia have grown 20% a year over the past 10 years and broke the 1-million-passenger mark in 2014. Carnival Corp.’s Australian fleet now includes the five P&O ships along with three Princess Cruise ships and one Carnival Cruise line ship.
And Carnival isn’t the only company getting more involved down under. Norwegian Cruise Lines opened its first Australian sales office in June and announced that it would increase its sailings in the region.
