MSC Group Marks Beginning of Sandy Cay Private Island Construction in The Bahamas

MSC Group’s Cruise Division celebrated the official groundbreaking ceremony for Sandy Cay, its new luxury private island destination located in The Bahamas. The island is scheduled to open in 2028.
Located adjacent to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Sandy Cay was first announced in April 2026 and is being developed exclusively for MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys guests. With a more intimate and elevated design, Sandy Cay will offer a distinctly different experience than Ocean Cay.
Among the highlights guests will find on Sandy Cay will be five beaches, along with a focus on wellness. It will also offer elevated dining, spaces to relax and unwind, and private retreats.
Simultaneously, MSC Group is also upgrading parts of Ocean Cay, including additional dining venues, new beach concepts for families and adults, expanded relaxation areas, and new immersive experiences enabling guests to engage more deeply with marine conservation.
