Norwegian Cruise Line’s new, six-acre Great Tides Waterpark on Great Stirrup Cay will officially open on September 4, 2026.
The grand opening will take place during Norwegian Luna’s seven-day Caribbean cruise departing from Miami on August 29, 2026, which features calls on Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, and Tortola, before culminating at Great Stirrup Cay.
Norwegian announced on Wednesday that day passes and private cabana reservations for the waterpark will go on sale starting May 28. The park was revealed last summer as part of a larger transformation for Great Stirrup Cay.
“Great Stirrup Cay continues to evolve as the premier private island destination in the Bahamas, and we’re excited to officially open Great Tides Waterpark on Sept. 4, 2026,” said Marc Kazlauskas, president of Norwegian Cruise Line. “With the best activities for families and for every type of traveler—from high-energy slides to laid-back lagoon experiences—guests can purchase their day passes ahead and lock in an unforgettable day on the most spectacular private island in the Caribbean beginning tomorrow.”
When it opens, it will feature 19 waterslides, including the 170-foot Tidal Tower. The tower will house eight slides, including two uphill-and-downhill water coasters, high-speed racing slides, spiraling tube slides, and body slides.
Great Tides Waterpark will also feature an over 800-foot dynamic river with an accelerated current, a 9,000-square-foot splash zone for children, and Cliffside Cove, which features the cruise industry’s first cliffside jump platforms.
More than just sailings out Miami will feature Great Stirrup Cay and Great Tides. Seasonal departures available from Northeast hubs like New York and Philadelphia, alongside Florida homeports in Miami, Port Canaveral, Tampa, and Jacksonville, will all give guests a chance to experience the island.
