Refurbs Planned for Two Norwegian Cruise Line Ships, New Guest Experiences Coming

Two of Norwegian Cruise Line’s Breakaway-Class ships will be undergoing “significant” updates in 2025, including the addition of an all-new outdoor recreational concept. Norwegian Bliss will also get a new cinema/dining experience.

Both ships will see the addition of Horizon Park, which NCL refers to as a “versatile, outdoor gathering space.” Here guests will find a variety of lawn-style games such as cornhole and giant Jenga, as well as reclining loungers.

Exclusively on Norwegian Breakaway, the Silver Screen Bistro will be an “immersive” movie and dining venue for cruisers of all ages to enjoy. Replacing the Spiegel Tent, the concept will offer oversized recliners and retractable tables for enjoying shareable handheld menu items including select dishes from Food Republic.

Norwegian Breakaway will also receive The Stadium, the complimentary outdoor space that offers a variety of family-friendly games. And, Vibe Beach Club, the adults-only outdoor venue and The Haven Sundeck will be expanded to feature additional seating and cabanas.

“At Norwegian Cruise Line, our guests and what they value most is critical in order for us to develop experiences,” said David J. Herrera, president of NCL. “Our goal is to provide them their very own best vacation. From creating new concepts that offer more outdoor gathering spaces for making memories with friends and family, to expanding dining options that consistently bring joy to our guests across our fleet, we’re providing more to do and more to enjoy for all types of travelers.”

Restaurant & Accommodation Changes

On top of the new additions, NCL is also expanding some of the most popular dining venues onboard both ships including Cagney’s Steakhouse (replacing Los Losbos on Bliss and Moderno Churrascaria on Breakaway) and – on Bliss only – Teppanyaki (replacing Coco’s).

Both will also get Palomar, the specialty seafood restaurant that premiered on Norwegian Prima, replacing Ocean Blue.

Norwegian Bliss will also receive updated accommodations for the Premiere Owner’s Suites with Large Balconies in The Haven. These top-tier suites will be expanded to include three bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, a separate dining room, and fully refurbished living areas, master bedrooms, and outdoor balcony furnishings.

Repurposing a portion of the Observation Lounge on deck 15, the ship will also add 24 additional balcony staterooms and two additional club balcony staterooms.

Norwegian Bliss’ two-week drydock begins Jan. 17, 2025, while Norwegian Breakaway’s three-week drydock start Feb. 19, 2025.
