Royal Caribbean Tipping Policy Rumor Spreads Across Internet

A popular cruise blog, known for scouring cruise websites for the latest policy changes, reported on a change in Royal Caribbean’s FAQ that indicated the automatic gratuity for beverages, beverage packages, specialty dining, specialty dining packages, and spa and salon services had increased to 20%, up from 18%.

This report was then picked up by others and quickly spread across other cruise blogs and social media.

However, the FAQ had been changed in error and gratuities have, in fact, not changed.  

“We recently identified an error in an FAQ that incorrectly stated gratuity information. To clarify, there has been no change to our gratuity rates. Gratuities for beverages and dining remain at 18% as previously communicated. The FAQ has been corrected, and we apologize for any confusion this error may have caused,” Royal Caribbean said in a statement.
