Scenic Launches World’s First Discovery Yacht
After three years of planning, Scenic has released details of the new Scenic Eclipse, an ultra-luxury mega yacht that Scenic is calling the world’s “First Discovery Yacht.”
The Eclipse will carry 228 guests in 114 veranda suites. It will feature two on-board helicopters and a seven-seat submarine, allowing guests to access places that were previously thought inaccessible to the typical large-ship or river cruise passenger. Among other amenities, the ship will also boast six on-board dining venues, a number of Sun Deck Jacuzzis and bars and lounges, and a gym with a separate yoga and Pilates studio.
The Eclipse, which is another all-inclusive ship for Scenic, will make its maiden voyage on Aug. 31, 2018, sailing from Istanbul to Venice. It will then make voyages to the Americas, Antarctica, Europe, the Mediterranean, and the Arctic. Its full sailing schedule will be released next month.
The news is part of a continued expansion by Scenic. By the end of 2016, Scenic—along with its sister company Emerald Waterways—will have 21 river ships in service.
