Micro ship polar cruise operator Secret Atlas has named Laura Gerwin as North American business development director. Gerwin previously spent five seasons at McMurdo Station with the U.S. Antarctic Program and is a IAATO Antarctic Ambassador. She will lead Secret Atlas’ travel advisor partnerships across the U.S. and Canada.
Most recently, Gerwin served as director of group sales at Geographic Expeditions (GeoEx). She has also served as business development manager at Antarctica21 and as travel designer and polar specialist at Outside GO. Beyond the polar regions, she led adventure programming as Director of Adventure and Activities at Auberge Resorts Collection’s Bishop’s Lodge in Santa Fe.
Her firsthand experience with polar conditions, logistics, and wildlife shapes how she guides travelers heading to the Arctic and Antarctic today.
“Everyone at Secret Atlas has extensive firsthand field experience, and that’s how we advise our guests and partners on planning, running, and getting the most out of a polar expedition,” said Michele D’Agostino, co-founder and CEO of Secret Atlas. “Laura has lived and worked on the ice, and on that front she’s second to none. She knows the fly-cruise model inside out and understands why scale matters down there. Now advisors across the U.S. and Canada have someone on their side of the Atlantic who has stood where their clients will stand.”
Secret Atlas operates Antarctic and Arctic polar expeditions of just 12 guests in Svalbard and Greenland and 36 guests in Antarctica and South Georgia.
Travel advisors interested in partnering with Secret Atlas can contact Laura Gerwin at laura@secretatlas.com or (505) 416-4608.
