Cancun Hotels and Resorts Escape Hurricane Milton with Little Damage

As Tampa and the Florida Gulf Coast prepare for the arrival of Hurricane Milton, hotels and resorts in Cancun, Mexico are mostly open and operating as normal as the storm moves further away from the Yucatan Peninsula.

Milton did force Tropical Storm warnings for the Yucatan Peninsula, and brought rainfall and wind to the area, but did not cause much damage to hotels, resorts, or infrastructure in the area.

A spokesperson for the Hyatt Inclusive Collection told TMR on Wednesday that all of its resorts—including Hyatt Zia, Impressions by Secrets, and Dreams—in the Cancun area are all operating as normal and did not suffer any damage.

“While the area did experience heavy rain and thunderstorms from Milton, there was no damage to the resorts, and they are all operating as normal,” the spokesperson said.

Royal Resorts, which operates two resorts in Cancun in The Royal Cancun and The Royal Sands, are also fully operational after having to close some outdoor services earlier in the week.

“We hope that our guests on property will enjoy the rest of their stay with us, and we are ready to welcome incoming members and guests,” it said in a statement on its website.

A spokesperson for Hard Rock Hotels and Resorts told TMR the same thing. Its resorts in the area, including Hard Rock Hotel Cancun, suffered little-to-no damage from Hurricane Milton and are all operating “business as usual.”
