Absolute Sanctuary in Thailand Offers Yoga, Spa

by Nick Verrastro  January 21, 2010

Absolute Sanctuary, the detox and yoga resort on the island of Koh Samui in Thailand, is adding a new wing containing an expanded yoga studio that will also double as a conference room. The Moroccan-inspired boutique wellness resort is also adding a larger restaurant and guest lounge area, executive director Claire Bostock-Huang tells Travel Market Report.

The resort further announced a Pilates training program in collaboration with the Ultimate Pilates Teaching Center (UPTC). The resort is part of the Absolute Group that owns and operates Absolute Yoga with eight yoga centers in Thailand and two studios in Singapore.

Bostock-Huang said, “We have grown so much since opening our doors and demands for our services and treatments have not only been on the rise but we have also been getting increasing requests to host yoga events/teacher trainings. So it is inevitable that we would have to expand to cater to these.” She added that with its new facilities, Absolute Sanctuary will be able to expand its services and wellness programs in order to host more yoga retreats, workshops and teacher training programs.

In its partnership with UPTC, Absolute Sanctuary will host two Pilates Intensives: Stott Pilates and Intensive Mat-Plus for pilates teachers. The resort offers a number of packages for yoga, detox and rejuvenation, Bostock-Huang tells TMR. For example, a five-day yoga includes unlimited yoga classes at Absolute Yoga Center, a la carte vegetarian meals, one 90-minute Thai massage or 60-minute aromatherapy per day, fresh juices or smoothies, five nights’ accommodations, use of the pool and steam room, and roundtrip airport transfers, plus one colon hydrotherapy treatment and an additional 10% discount on all detox and a la carte spa treatments.

In addition to its Detox Center and Yoga Center, the resort features 38 rooms with modern amenities, an infinity-edge pool, a Spa offering a variety of massage therapies and an organic vegetarian restaurant. As a boutique health and wellness resort, Absolute Sanctuary specializes in Signature Detox Programs and world-class yoga retreats and workshops to refresh revitalize and rejuvenate, according to Bostock-Huang. Absolute Sanctuary’s three Signature Detox Programs combine colon hydrotherapy sessions, detox drinks, herbal supplements, nutritious meals (if not fasting), yoga and/or massage sessions. The Detox Center at the resort features nine private rooms, each with modern colon hydrotherapy equipment.

Each visit at the Sanctuary begins with a personal consultation and is followed through under professional guidance to ensure the needs of all guests are met, according to Bostock-Huang.

The Yoga Centre at Absolute Sanctuary is the crown jewel of the Absolute Group’s chain of yoga studies in Thailand and Singapore, she noted. The Yoga Centre is positioned to be at the forefront of yoga practice in Asia, linking students with world-renowned gurus and teachers to learn from and interact with each other. The Centre offers daily classes of various styles such as Hot Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga, and will also arrange regular workshops, retreats and teacher training sessions conducted by some of the best known names in the yoga world.

Bostock-Huang told TMR that travel sellers should contact her by e-mail at Claire@absolutesanctuary.com and the resort’s sales and marketing executive Ms. Jiraporn Klay-on at jee@absolutesanctuary.com. Travel sellers can also call +66 77 601 190.
