AARP Touts The Benefits Of Booking With An Agent

The American Association of Retired Persons last week came out in support of the nation’s travel agencies.

Its monthly magazine notes the increase in the use of travel agents and offers up four reasons why booking through an agent is the best choice.

The article cites Phocuswright research that recently found that “for the first time in years, the number of people booking exclusively online has leveled off, while the number turning to traditional agents is on the rise.”

Indeed, it says, “agents are still the experts, and, bottom line, they know more about travel and have access to more deals than your average vacationer.”

Agents:

1. Save time
Agents cut through the online clutter that leads to information overload.

2. Save money
Good agents “know all the tricks for finding lower airfares, plus they can use their inside connections to get you extras and upgrades.”

3. Care for their clients’ special needs
Travel agents travel, so they know the destinations, sights, and accommodations that are best for their customers.

4. Solve client problems
An agent is “a call away in the event of a stumble.”
