Air France Celebrating 45 Years with Tribute Flight
On January 14, 2016, Air France will be celebrating the 45th anniversary of one of the most important flights in the company’s history, the first Boeing 747 flight from Paris to New York. A special tribute flight, Flight AF747, will take off from Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris at 11:30 a.m., and offer all passengers a business-class lunch and champagne, a tribute drink, views of Paris landmarks, and inflight commentary.
Air France was one of the first airlines to operate the Boeing 747, which eventually became the flagship of its long-haul fleet. Most of the long-haul flights from France were served by the 747, including routes to New York, Montreal, and the French West Indies.
