Ultra-low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines is expanding in the Golden State.

Spirit Airlines will officially launch new, nonstop service from San José Mineta International Airport to Las Vegas, Dallas, and San Diego starting in June. The carrier will fly twice daily to Las Vegas, and once daily to Dallas and San Diego, from San José.

The service will officially kick off on June 7. To celebrate, Spirit is offering fares starting at $89 for the Dallas service, $39 for the Las Vegas service, and $59 for the San Diego service.

The additions mark the seventh airport Spirit serves in California, joining Burbank, Los Angeles, Oakland, Orange County, Sacramento, and San Diego. The carrier currently flies more than 55 daily departures to 23 out-of-state destinations.

Spirit is currently awaiting word about the future of its pending merger with JetBlue. Spirit, on its four-quarter earnings call last week, said that it anticipates hearing from the Department of Justice (DOJ) in the next 30 days or so.

After agreeing to the deal in June 2022, both carriers had “certified substantial compliance” with a second DOJ request in December and now await word about whether or not the DOJ will want to block the deal.
