Belmond Names Champenois Marketing SVP

Luxury hotelier Belmond today announced the appointment of Arnaud Champenois to senior vice president of its marketing and brand arm, effective immediately.
Champenois is an industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in marketing and communications in the luxury goods and services sector. Most recently, Champenois served as the Asia Pacific brand leader for Starwood Hotels & Resorts, overseeing the St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, W Hotels and Le Méridien brands. Prior to that, he held several positions in L’Oreal’s luxury products division.
Champenois said he hopes to accelerate the company’s growth, as well as strengthen the brand and its global awareness.
The London-based company owns and operates high-end hotels, tourist trains, river cruises and restaurants in 22 countries. It was established in 1976 with the purchase of Belmond Hotel Cipriani in Venice, Italy. Since then, its collection has grown to include 35 hotels, including iconic properties such as the Belmond Grand Hotel Europe in St. Petersburg and the Belmond Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro. Belmond’s seven tourist trains include the VSOE in Europe, the Eastern & Oriental Express in Southeast Asia and Belmond Royal Scotsman, and its three river cruise operations include Belmond Road to Mandalay on the Ayeyarwady River in Myanmar and Belmond Afloat in France.
