Travelport To Retire Legacy Link To Amtrak This Weekend

Travelport reminded agencies that its legacy connection to Amtrak will be retired at 3 a.m. ET on Sunday, Sept. 11, for all Apollo and Worldspan subscribers in the U.S., and provided information on dealing with existing reservations:

  • All Amtrak bookings must be completed and ticketed before the retirement.
  • After the retirement, Amtrak PNRs will be retrievable in Apollo and Worldspan, but there will be no ability to modify a booking or ticket.
  • Amtrak PNRs will be retrievable in Apollo and Worldspan and will remain in the system until 24 hours after the last segment travel date.

Travelport said it has contacted agencies that have booked Amtrak in Apollo or Worldspan over the last year with instructions specific to their SIDs/PCCs for loading the replacement product, the Travelport Smartpoint Booking App for Amtrak.

The app is added to Travelport Smartpoint on each workstation where the agency wishes to have access to shop, price, and book Amtrak and have Amtrak electronically ticket the booking.

It is able to read information from an existing PNR—like name, address, phone number and form of payment—and will programmatically build an Amtrak passive segment back into the PNR when a booking is completed.

Travelport is initially granting access to the Smartpoint Booking App for Amtrak to agencies that have been booking Amtrak over the last 12 months.

Agencies that are interested in gaining future access to the app should contact their Travelport account managers.
