Disney Veteran Josh D’Amaro Named Head of Parks

Josh D’Amaro will lead Disney’s parks, experiences and products.

Josh D’Amaro, who previously was the president of Walt Disney World Resort, has been named chairman of Disney’s parks, experiences and products.

He takes over from Bob Chapek, who was promoted to CEO of the company in February.

In his new role, D’Amaro will oversee Disney’s travel and leisure business, which includes six theme parks, a cruise line, and a guided family adventure business, as well as Disney’s global consumer products operations, which include toys, apparel, home goods, games, and the shopDisney e-commerce platform.

D’Amaro joined the Walt Disney Company in 1998 at the Disneyland Resort and has severed as senior vice president of commercial strategy for Walt Disney World Resort and led its resorts and transportation operations. He also held the position of vice president of Disney’s Animal Kingdom as it underwent its biggest expansion in its history.

Several other changes within Disney’s parks leadership were also announced.

Jeff Vahle has been named president of Walt Disney World Resort, where he will be responsible for all facets of business for the resort, including its four theme parks, two water parks, 28 resort hotels, four golf courses, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and the Disney Springs entertainment-shopping-dining complex. Vahle, who began his Disney career in 1990, most recently served as the president of Disney Signature Experiences.

After nearly 25 years with the company, Ken Potrock takes the helm of Disneyland Resort. As president he will oversee two theme parks, three resort hotels, and a 20-acre entertainment, retail and shopping district. He had previously served as president of consumer products.
