MGM Resorts CEO Jim Murren to Step Down

by Jessica Montevago  February 13, 2020
MGM Resorts CEO Jim Murren to Step Down

MGM Resorts International’s Chairman and Chief Executive
Jim Murren will step down from his role, prior to his contract ending, the company announced Wednesday.

He will continue to serve in his current leadership roles until a successor is appointed.

Murren has served as chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts since 2008 and has been with the company since 1998. He was involved in the building of T-Mobile Arena and bringing the Vegas Golden Knights, the Las Vegas Aces and the Las Vegas Raiders to the city.

Murren also has led the MGM Resorts’ expansion in Asia, with the opening of two properties in Macau and the current effort to obtain a license in Osaka, Japan.

The board has formed a committee of independent directors to conduct the search process for his replacement.

The casino operator also withdrew its financial forecast for 2020, as it assesses how the coronavirus epidemic will impact operations. Macau casinos are currently closed.
