Six Senses CEO Wins GWS Leader in Sustainability Award

At the recent Global Wellness Summit (GWS) held at the Breakers Palm Beach in Florida, CEO of Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, Neil Jacobs, was presented with the organization’s Leader in Sustainability award.

According to the GWS — the world’s premiere gathering of leaders and influencers from the $3.72 trillion global wellness industry — the award “honors a leader or innovator in, or advocate for, sustainability in all its diverse forms,” GWS spokesperson and GWI Research Director Beth McGroarty said.

Neil Jacobs was chosen because he “has combined his creative vision of global hospitality and his passion for sustainability, impacting how people view their destination experiences.”

In his acceptance remarks, Jacobs said that sustainability is a key consideration in the development, design and daily operations at each Six Senses location. Efforts are made to act responsibly in measuring and minimizing each resort’s carbon footprint and impact on the environment, all through active management of energy, water, waste, biodiversity, purchasing and chemicals usage.

New York property to open in 2019
The company has also recently announced its North American debut with Six Senses New York. The 10-story, 137-unit hotel is slated to open in 2019.

Part of a mixed-use development by HFZ Capital Group, the project will bring Manhattan’s West Side its first five-star hotel, along with condominium residences and high-end retail shopping.

Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas operates 11 resorts and 28 spas in 19 countries. Development plans will triple the portfolio over the next five years with resort, hotel and spa openings now underway in Bali, Cambodia, Fiji, Bhutan, Turkey and Israel, along with other destinations.
