Another Lufthansa Group Airline Is Going on Strike
by Daniel McCarthy /The staff at Austrian Airlines, one of the carriers under the Lufthansa Group of airlines, is going on strike.
Vida, the trade union that represents Austrian’s staff, will strike from Thursday, March 28, through Friday, March 29 at noon local time. While Austrian says “everything possible is currently being done to minimize the impact on passengers,” those scheduled to fly Austrian during that time can expect cancellations and disruptions.
Austrian is asking all passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport. For anyone impacted, Austria is allowing them to rebook without fee, or get a full refund.
Vida, which is bargaining for a pay raise for its members has maintained that an agreement is possible before Thursday.
“The clock is ticking: yesterday, Sunday, another round of negotiations was unsuccessful. It was agreed with the AUA management to remain silent about the negotiations. The Vida union remains ready to negotiate at any time,” it said in a statement.
