The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach Reopens Following $90 Million Renovation

The historic Art Deco Ritz-Carlton, South Beach reopened Monday following its floor-to-ceiling restoration, after a two-year hiatus.

After the property suffered water damage in 2017, the $90 million renovation reworked guestrooms, suites, the spa, restaurants and bars, the lobby, and other public spaces.

The new lobby’s focal point remains the original chrome sphere light wall, surrounded by a combination of rich bronzes and brasses. A few steps away, the speakeasy-style Lapidus Bar – named after the landmark building’s original architect, Morris Lapidus – is a classic cocktail lounge with live music and vintage cocktails.

Designed by the firm HBA Miami, the 376 renovated guestrooms and suites showcase intricate crown molding in the guest rooms, inspired by 1950s Art Deco style. A palette of ocean blue, warm gold and rich coffee is complemented by herringbone flooring that runs through the rooms. Distinct oversized furnishings, such as plush, colorful headboards, serve as playful accents. Marble bathrooms are complete with a standalone tub.

The hotel's new restaurant, Fuego y Mar, serves Latin American dishes with fresh ingredients prepared over an open flame. Executive Chef Anthony LePape is at the helm. At the alfresco DiLido Beach Club, the all-day dining menu highlights Spanish, French and Greek cuisines, while cocktails incorporate herbs and healthy ingredients.

The Ritz-Carlton Spa centers around a holistic approach to wellness that celebrates mindfulness and offers a range of therapies. The nation’s only Timeless Capsule, an elliptical room designed to condense spa treatments, is ideal for time-restricted guests.

For club level guests, the Club Lounge offers a dedicated concierge, bespoke experiences and complimentary culinary delights throughout the day. Locally driven signature offerings — empanadas, waffle pastelitos, and more — are also available to club guests.

The ballroom at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach spans over 10,000 square feet, and is supplemented by 11 separate meeting and event spaces, all of which showcase a design that is infused with the spirit of Miami's history and rich cultural scene.
