Generali Global Assistance Travel Insurance has announced a new insurance option for seaside and coastal vacation rentals that agents who offer vacation rentals as part of their portfolio should know about.

The new insurance, called Seaside Coastal Travel Insurance, provides coverage to travelers to economy and home rental properties in coastal regions (not any hotel stays in coastal areas). It covers things like car breakdowns, beach closures, and lost sporting equipment, for any client booked in a rental property.

"The coastal plan offers expanded coverages related to adverse weather and hurricanes, including interruption of services at the rental, uninhabitable or inaccessible accommodations, or mandatory evacuation,” Generali CEO Chris Carnicelli told Travel Market Report.

The option also includes expanded coverage for adverse weather and hurricanes, including situations where guests are evacuated from an area because of a storm or situations where rentals are inaccessible or uninhabitable because of weather damage.

"We are excited to introduce this new offering and provide additional coverage to the coastal vacation rental industry – which is a significant segment of the industry,” Carnicelli said.
