ASTA AGC: Agents, Advocates Honored

At the recent ASTA Global Convention in Washington D.C., several travel agents were honored for service to their clients and the agent community. The ASTA Extra Mile Award, given annually to an agent who has provided exceptional service, was awarded to Shelly Reister of Travel By That Girl in Birmingham, Ala. Lauren Liebert from Ticket to Travel in San Francisco and Candy Nesbit from Elite Travel in Cheshire, Conn., were the runners up.

There were two winners this year of the Barbara O’Hara Advocacy Award, given to ASTA members who have made significant contributions in advocating for travel agencies .at the state and federal level. The 2015 honorees Jay Ellenby of Safe Harbors Business Travel Group in Bel Air, Md., and Jackie Friedman, CTC, CTIE, president of Nexion in Irving, Tex. Ellenby serves as ASTA’s treasurerand Friedman sits on ASTA’s board.
