Coast Guard Stops Search for Missing Royal Passenger
The Coast Guard has suspended its search for the Royal Caribbean passenger who went overboard on the Oasis of the Seas early Friday morning. The Coast Guard was searching an area of almost 1,000 nautical miles with airplanes and helicopters but was unable to find the man, who is reportedly a 35-year-old Brazilian. The Oasis also had two search boats looking for the man.
The ship was on a week-long cruise in the eastern Caribbean and was traveling close to Turks and Caicos when the man went overboard from the seventh deck of the ship, the Coast Guard said. While it was originally reported that he jumped, stories of an incident involving the ship’s crew allegedly harassing him over his homosexuality have since surfaced.
