Disney World’s Toy Story Land Comes to Life This Summer

TOY STORY LAND AT WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT (LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla.) ÑToy Story Land at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida opens June 30, 2018. Located at DisneyÕs Hollywood Studios, the new 11-acre Land will make guests feel like they have shrunk to the size of a toy in the setting of AndyÕs backyard. Guests will whoosh along on a family-friendly roller coaster, Slinky Dog Dash (pictured under development), take a spin aboard Alien Swirling Saucers and score high on the midway at Toy Story Mania! Filled with childhood nostalgia, Toy Story Land will officially open on June 30 at Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios.

Characters from the Toy Story movies — including Woody, Buzz, Jesse, and the Aliens — will take on life-size form, so “you can experience what it’s like to be one of Andy’s honorary toys,” said Dave Minichiello, executive creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering, at a press event. “When you enter Toy Story Land, you become the size of a toy. If fact, you’re about the size of a green army man.”

Modeled after Andy’s backyard, the 11-acre park expansion will be filled with playtime favorites like giant building blocks and game board pieces, as well as iconic toys such as Tinkertoys and Crayons.

Anchoring Toy Story Land and will be the Slinky Dog Dash family coaster, which will send riders around turns and drops inside the coils of the dachshund slinky spinoff. The other new attraction, Alien Swirling Saucers ride, will transport guests into the Pizza Planet play set where they will ride in flying saucers.

A longtime favorite of parkgoers, Toy Story Mania! will get an all-new carnival game box entrance. It was also updated with a third track, allowing more guests to take aim at the moving objects and score points along the way.
