Disney’s popular Soarin’ ride will reopen tomorrow in a new global format, as Soarin’ Around the World.
The ride, which simulates a hang glider flight looking down at the world below, used to feature only U.S. destinations. But now it includes the Great Wall of China, Switzerland’s Matterhorn, and Australia’s Sydney Harbor.
The five-minute ride uses a 180-degree, 80-foot IMAX projection dome and aerially captured footage to make guests feel like they are 40 feet in the air. It debuted in 2001, and now is available in Disney California Adventure, Epcot, and Shanghai Disneyland.
Soarin’ Around the World is just one of a number of new and upgraded attractions debuting this summer at Disney parks.
