MSC Unveils New Meraviglia Details
by Daniel McCarthy /When MSC’s newest ship, MSC Meraviglia, sets sail on its first cruise on June 4, 2017 it will have a number of new features.
Two unique Cirque du Soleil shows will run six nights a week at the Carousel Lounge, a specially designed theatre with a 180° circular glass wall. One hundred of the 450 guests booked for the show can also have dinner in the theatre.
The ship will have 12 eateries, including the new Kaito Teppanyaki restaurant, Kaito Sushi Bar, and an American-style steakhouse. The ship’s buffet, opened 20 hours a day, will serve a variety of Mediterranean and international dishes.
Meraviglia also will feature three pools—the main pool, inspired by Miami’s South Beach, on deck 15; a private pool for Yacht Club guests; and the aft pool on deck 16.
There are 10 different staterooms, including a new section dedicated to Yacht Club guests. Families looking for shared accommodations will be able to combine up to three staterooms to accommodate up to 10 guests in one living space.
The social center of the ship will be a 315-foot-long promenade that will run under a 262-foot LED ceiling operating 24 hours a day. Among other shops and eateries, the promenade will feature ice cream and crepes from Jean Philippe Maury.
And for the first time on any MSC ship, all kids and teen facilities will be concentrated in one super amusement park and children’s area. The area includes the DOREMI Studio Lounge, a separate tech lab designed for kids, four water slides, a splash pool and other facilities built through partnerships with toy companies LEGO and Chicco.
