Starwood Hit by Malware
More than 50 Starwood Hotels & Resorts in North America were infected with malware designed to collect credit card information, the hotel company confirmed last week.
Payment systems were affected between November 2014 and October, at hotels including the Sheraton New York Times Square hotel, the Westin New York Grand Central New York, and The St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort in Florida.
A third-party investigation showed that no customer data was compromised and the malware "no longer presents a threat," company said in a statement Friday, but it will be upping security as a precaution.
