Hilton announced Tuesday the signing of ROK Hotel, Kingston, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, marking the upscale soft brand’s debut in the Caribbean.
Slated to open in 2020, the 168-room property sits in a multi-purpose complex on Jamaica's Kingston Waterfront that will include retail and on-site entertainment. The 12-story building, originally opened in 1977 as the Oceana Hotel, is being transformed into ROK, Kingston, a contemporary hotel offering guests convenient access to the National Gallery of Jamaica and the historic landmark, Port Royal.
The property will feature an expansive pool deck on its first floor, as well as a fitness center, lounge area, restaurant, cafe and bar. ROK, Kingston will also offer flexible space for meetings and events, and will also serve as an accommodation option for guests attending events at the Jamaica Conference Centre just across the street.
Hilton said it will continue to pursue additional growth opportunities in the Caribbean and Latin America. It currently has a pipeline of nearly 90 hotels throughout the region, including two Tapestry Collection properties in Peru – Hotel Bel’Arte Lima and Hotel Museo de Osma slated to open in 2021.
