Disney Cruise Line Expanding Vaccine Mandate to All Guests 5 and Older
by Daniel McCarthy /Starting on Jan. 13, 2022, all guests aged 5 and older must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to sail with Disney Cruise Line.
Disney made the announcement today, writing in a message to its guests that its current requirement, which includes all vaccine-eligible guests, will be extended to all guests ages 5 and older starting in January.
“As we welcome guests aboard our ships, the health and safety of our guests, cast members, and crew members is a top priority,” Disney said in its message.
Disney said that the decision was guided by the growing definition of vaccine-eligibility by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and that the acceptable vaccines (Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, AstraZeneca, Covishield, Novavax, Sinopharm, and Sinovac) also follow those same CDC guidelines.
Guests under 5 who are not vaccine-eligible will continue to be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR or NAAT test result taken between 3 days and 24 hours before their sail date. And all guests, regardless of age or vaccination status, are still required to take a COVID-19 test, free of charge, at the terminal before boarding.
Disney is currently wrapping up constructions and plans for Disney Wish, Disney’s fifth ship in the fleet, following Magic, Wonder, Dream, and Fantasy. It is the first, of three, in a new class of ships for Disney called the Triton class.
