IATA Launches Digital ID Cards

IATA Launches Digital ID Cards

Beginning today, IATA is rolling out digital identification cards on the IATA AgentExperience mobile app. As a result, travel agents will now be able to access their IATA cards on their smartphones.

Cards will be available within 48 hours after online renewal, which is a dramatically faster delivery than the standard six weeks by mail.

IATA says the new digital ID cards will streamline the process of identifying travel professional status to suppliers and finding travel agent offers around the world. It also means agents will not have to worry about losing or forgetting the physical card.

The digital ID cards can be emailed to suppliers, so when advisors are claiming an offer, they can scan the card’s QR code to validate who they are.

The mobile app was piloted over the summer in Australia and Canada, with more than 4,300 downloads in only six weeks, according to IATA.
