Margaritaville San Diego Gaslamp Quarter Opens for Booking
by Daniel McCarthy /Margaritaville San Diego Gaslamp Quarter, the first urban Margaritaville on the West Coast, has officially opened booking.
The resort, located in the heart of San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter not far from Petco Park and the San Diego Convention Center, is the former Kimpton Hotel Solamar currently being transformed via a $31 million renovation. It is scheduled to welcome its first guests on Aug. 15, 2023.
When it does open, the hotel is expected to include 235 guest rooms along with a number of signature Margaritaville food and beverage concepts including the Landshark Bar & Grill, the poolside 5 O’clock Somewhere Bar, and a Margaritaville Coffee Shop.
The hotel is not the only Margaritaville property planned for San Diego. Margaritaville Island San Diego, located in Mission Bay, is also currently in the process of launching. That resort, situated on a 44-acre island retreat, is scheduled to open next year.
The Margaritaville Mission Bay location will offer 462 bungalow-style rooms, including 73 suites, along with a number of eateries, a full-service marina, a separate spa, and over 80,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, which will make it one of the 10 largest conference hotels in San Deigo.
The Margaritaville company is currently dealing with the potential foreclosure of one of its flagship urban properties in New York, Margaritaville Times Square, which has its future in question just two years after opening.
