Celebrating the newly announced Air Canada Toronto to Rio de Janeiro route last week.
As Air Canada celebrated the upcoming launch of 3X-weekly flights from Toronto to Rio de Janeiro, one of the biggest smiles in a room full of travel partners was on the face of Ana Paula de Souza, AC’’s Director Sales, Canada and Global Accounts.
“Rio is my home, so this route is very close to my heart,” de Souza told Travel Market Report Canada at the travel advisor event held at Toronto’s Westin Harbour Castle.
“I want this to be a great success so we can make this a year-round route.”

Rio is famed for its scenic beauty, beautiful beaches and annual carnival that is rated among the world’s best parties.
De Souza says that despite Toronto-Rio being anticipated mostly as a leisure route, passengers will have three classes to choose from on the Dreamliners serving the 10-hour route, including lie-flat business class, premium economy and economy.

The currently seasonal route kicks off December 4, just in time for the peak winter-escape travel season. With a significant number of Canadians seeking alternative to traditional warm-weather destinations, Rio could have its moment in the sun.
Air Canada Vacations will have product to offer options for travellers heading to the new South American destination, de Souza said.
She also took the opportunity to thank advisors for their support in the days leading up to and throughout last month’s flight attendant strike.“Our partners stand by us in good times and in difficult times, and they recently proved that once again. We cannot thank our travel advisor partners enough.”
