Air Canada today officially launched its Air Canada City Shuttle service, connecting downtown Montréal and Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL).
For $9 CAD one way, Air Canada will shuttle passengers directly between the Palais des congrès de Montréal downtown and the departures level at YUL. Anyone under 15 years old can ride for free with an accompanying adult.
Air Canada will run the service 37 times daily, with departures leaving every 15 minutes during peak morning hours (4:45 a.m. to 6:30 a.m.), and every 30 minutes until 9:00 p.m. From the airport, departures run every 15 minutes from 5:15 a.m. to 6:45 a.m., and every 30 minutes thereafter until 10:00 p.m.
If the bus is delayed, Air Canada will offer passengers complimentary flight rebooking options.
The airline said the goal is to “provide more predictable travel times between downtown Montréal and YUL,” which can sometimes be a big issue for travelers flying out of YUL. Traffic on routes into the airport, includingAutoroute 20 and the Décarie Expressway, can fluctuate wildly. The bus will also be able to use the high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) and reserved bus lanes on the route and a dedicated entrance at the airport, which can cut transit time.
Beyond the Montréal service, The Landline Company—which partners with Air Canada—offers similar regional connections from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to six Ontario markets: Hamilton, Kitchener/Waterloo, Kingston, Sarnia, Muskoka, and Niagara.
In the U.S., Landline collaborates with American Airlines for “tarmac-to-tarmac” regional connections out of Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) to Allentown, Atlantic City, Trenton, Wilmington, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, as well as out of Chicago O’Hare (ORD) to South Bend and Rockford. The company also operates regional airport connections out of Denver International Airport (DEN) to Northern Colorado and Minneapolis–St. Paul (MSP) to Duluth, the latter in partnership with Sun Country Airlines.
Landline has also teamed up with Massport to power the Logan Airport Remote Terminal in Framingham, allowing Delta and JetBlue passengers flying out of Boston Logan (BOS) to check bags, clear TSA security off-site, and bus directly to the secure airside gates.
