Hawaiian Airlines Now Offers Free Starlink Wi-Fi on Most Flights

Hawaiian Airlines now features free and fast Wi-Fi, via Starlink, on all its Airbus-operated flights between the islands and the continental U.S., Asia, and Oceania.

Hawaiian first debuted Starlink on its Airbus A321neo aircraft in February and the plan was to roll the service out to its entire fleet. As of Tuesday, it has officially installed the service on all 24 of its A330 aircraft.

Next, Hawaiian will install it in the 2 Boeing 787-9 aircraft, which will mark the completion of the project—the airline will not install it in its 19 Boeing 717-200 aircraft, which primarily do short-haul flights between the islands.

That will make Hawaiian the first major airline to offer free Wi-Fi via Starlink to its passengers. Hawaiian will soon be joined by United Airlines, which announced earlier this month plans to do the same.

United says that it will add Starlink to its 1,000-plus jets over the next several years, with testing starting in early 2025. The first United passenger flights featuring the service are expected to launch in 2025.

Canada’s WestJet also recently announced a deal to bring Starlink to its passengers. On WestJet, Starlink is expected to roll out by the end of 2024, with all of WestJet’s narrowbody fleet being updated in 2025, and the wide-body fleet in 2026.
