A power outage at Tampa International Airport in Florida on Wednesday night could impact travel on Thursday.
According to airport officials, power went out across the airport, including the main terminal, airside terminals, and SkyConnect, starting at about 9 p.m. local time. Power started to come back at around midnight, first at two of the four termianls and then Airside A terminal. The last remaining outage at Airside F was fully restored by about 2 a.m., according to statements from the airport.
In the meantime, all operations at the airport were put on hold, including departures, customs operations, and more. According to FlightAware, 45% of all departures were delayed on Wednesday, totaling more than 140 departures total. Some passengers were reportedly stuck on the tarmac, and some international arrivals were delayed for a few hours before being able to get processed by customs.
The cause of the outage remains under investigation, but normal operations have resumed. There are still delays on flights leaving the airport on Thursday morning, according to FlightAware. Passengers are being advised to check with their airline before heading to the airport.
