Southwest Airlines on Monday announced a new partnership with SIA Group, which includes Singapore Airlines and Scoot, that will give its flyers the ability to book a single-ticket journey on the two airlines.
The interline agreement will connect Southwest’s route map to the 130 destinations in 35 countries that Singapore Airlines and Scoot fly to. The two will connect at three of SIA Group’s U.S. gateways: Los Angeles (LAX), Seattle/Tacoma (SEA), and San Francisco (SFO).
SIA Group’s busiest airport is Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), where it accounts for close to 40% of the 70 million passengers that Changi handles annually.
This year has seen Southwest significantly expand its reach, both in the U.S. and globally. So far, aside from the new SIA Group partnership, Southwest this year has added service to St. Thomas, in the U.S. Virgin Islands; Sint Maarten; Santa Rosa/Sonoma County, California; Knoxville, Tennessee; and Anchorage, Alaska.
