Spirit Airlines is adding a new nonstop flight between Key West (EYW) and Fort Lauderdale (FLL), the airline’s largest hub.
Spirit will begin the four-times-weekly service on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, operating on Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. Beginning Dec. 18, 2025, flights will increase to daily.
Key West will be Spirit’s eighth Florida destination, joining Fort Myers (RSW), Miami (MIA), Orlando (MCO), Pensacola (PNS), Tampa (TPA), and West Palm Beach (PBI), along with Fort Lauderdale. The direct connection into Fort Lauderdale will allow travelers from Spirit’s other destinations, including cities like Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, New York, and Philadelphia, to connect.
Spirit, traditionally a major player in the ultra-low-cost carrier segment, emerged from bankruptcy in March, ready to start its next chapter almost four months after filing for Chapter 11 protection. The airline committed to pivoting away from its ultra-budget model to target a more premium traveler through fare bundling — a strategy it embraced in the second half of 2024 — along with bigger seat options, Wi-Fi, and included food and beverage service.
Shortly after that announcement, Spirit Airlines CEO Ted Christie stepped down, and Dave Davis — the former president and CFO at Sun Country Airlines — was soon after named the new president and and CEO.
