Cambria Hotel Philadelphia Downtown Center City

The new 15-story, 223-room Cambria Hotel, which opened in June 2018, takes full advantage of its key location along the Avenue of the Arts. The hotel is within walking distance to the Kimmel Center, Rittenhouse Square, Reading Terminal Market, City Hall, and the Pennsylvania Convention Center, as well as a choice of restaurants and shopping. Guests can also observe the neighborhood from above, from two appealing outdoor spaces. Guest rooms, as well as public spaces, feature a contemporary feel and locally inspired designs. Art has been commissioned by Hawk Krall, a Philadelphia-based artist and illustrator.

The year-round Attico Rooftop Kitchen + Lounge offers a cozy spot for craft cocktails, small plates, and light snacks, while overlooking the city. The hotel’s second-floor lobby with bar and restaurant also has a small outdoor patio, with viewing access to all of the excitement of the city below. The menu consists of locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. If guests choose to dine inside, or relax at the bar or lobby area, they’ll find an eclectic style that includes musical drums used as coffee tables and furniture set in intimate groupings. In addition to these features, the hotel has a fully equipped fitness center.

Guest rooms are available with king or double queen beds, and include spa-style bathrooms with Bluetooth mirrors so guests can listen to music while in the expansive shower. A refrigerator, microwave, Keurig coffeemaker, and complimentary WiFi add to the in-room amenities.

Fairfield Inn & Suites Philadelphia Downtown/Center City.
The former Parker Hotel has been transformed into a modern boutique property, now the 119-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott. Opened in June 2018, the hotel is set in Midtown Village, a beautiful neighborhood of brownstones with restaurants nearby. The Liberty Bell Center, the Reading Terminal Market, the Pennsylvania Convention Center and the Academy of National Sciences are all within walking distance. Valet parking makes it easy to leave the car behind and just explore.

Despite the bright soft goods and furnishings, the original historic touches of the property still shine through in the window panes, mail slots by the elevators and the limited number of rooms per floor. Microwaves, refrigerators, free WiFi and smart TVs bring guests back to the modern era. There is also a small 24-hour fitness center for those who seek to work out during their stay.

Guests get to start their days with a breakfast buffet including hot and cold items, an assortment of juices, and coffee included in the rate. Breakfast is served at the Libertine, a casual spot for dinner on weekdays, and lunch and dinner on weekends with a Mediterranean menu. Some 20 wines by the glass and a number of local craft beer choices are also available. Seasonal outdoor seating adds to its bistro feel.

ROOST East Market
Philadelphia’s third ROOST Apartment Hotel, on the edge of Midtown Village, softly opened in December and has an official opening date of January 2019. The extended-stay brand offers an option for business and leisure travelers seeking stays of one week to one month. The 60 furnished studio, one- and two-bedroom, and penthouse units feature full-size kitchens, washers and dryers, and king-size beds on five floors of a new, 23-story building. There is a 24-hour front desk, weekly housekeeping, fitness center, outdoor terrace, and lap pool.

New for 2019
Among the city’s upcoming property openings, look for the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center to make its debut in spring 2019; and the W Philadelphia and Element Philadelphia to open in early 2020.
