Amadeus Brings Back a ‘New and Improved’ Agenta

by Michèle McDonald  February 14, 2011

Amadeus is reintroducing Amadeus Agenta, a hosted travel agency solution for independent North American travel agencies that is designed to eliminate or reduce the administrative burden and overhead associated with running a travel agency.

Amadeus first launched the solution in 2004 as a way to help small agencies cope with tough times. Tom Cates, chief commercial officer for Amadeus North America, said that although many agencies have successfully weathered the economic storm, others still face challenges.

“The time is right” to reintroduce Agenta, he said.

Agenta was designed for home-based, start-up, cruise-only or non-ARC/IATA agencies with limited or no GDS experience. Hosting and fulfillment will be provided by Uniglobe Travel Center in the U.S. and by Merit Travel Group in Canada.

The revamped version incorporates the latest technology of the Amadeus Selling Platform, with GDS and non-GDS content presented in a graphical interface with point-and-click functionality. It also includes business management tools and lower, market-competitive pricing.

Agenta is available for the first time to agencies in Canada.

Commission program
Agenta features include: a commission program that offers up to 35% commission on selected non-air products; full administrative support, including hosting, fulfillment, ticketing, invoicing, itineraries, billing and redemption; detailed tracking and business management tools for bookings, commissions, revenue, expenses and service fees, and comprehensive online training and support.

For U.S. users, individual membership in Vacation.com is also an Agenta feature.

Canadian users will have access to Merit Travel’s Try That incentive programs and golf, ski and exclusive cruise vacation packages. They also will have access to Soft Voyage’s SIREV tour operator platform.
