CNN’s Jake Tapper to Speak at ASTA Global Convention
by Jessica Montevago /With politics and the travel industry often intersecting, from the travel ban to Cuba restrictions, CNN’s Chief Washington Correspondent Jake Tapper will be the keynote speaker at this year’s American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) Global Convention.
Tapper, anchor of “The Lead with Jake Tapper” and host of “State of the Union,” will speak on current affairs and his new book, “The Hellfire Club.” There will also be an audience question-and-answer session.
He will take the stage during the morning session on Thursday, Aug. 23 at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C.
“His presence comes at a pivotal time, when travel and politics regularly converge in the headlines,” ASTA said in a statement. “The ASTA travel advisor community, bound by its own longstanding code of ethics, has the opportunity to be stewards of important information to their clients, similar to a journalist’s code of ethics.”
The event, which kicks off Aug. 21, will once again be emceed by Samantha Brown. It will also feature Alison Taylor, senior vice president of global sales and distribution at American Airlines, as one of its keynote speakers.
