After announcing that Celebrity Edge would be the first cruise ship to depart from U.S. waters post-COVID-19, Celebrity Cruises today added another ship to those restart plans.

Celebrity Equinox will start sailing from Ft. Lauderdale on July 25, a month after Edge gets its start Ft. Lauderdale on June 26. The ship will take guests on a series of seven-night Mexican and Bahamas itineraries, that include stops at Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Nassau.

Just like Edge, all adult guests on Equinox will be required to be fully vaccinated. Starting on Aug. 1, that moves to guests 12-years and older. Celebrity will also employ staggered arrivals and departures at the terminal and Royal Caribbean’s new eMuster drill to allow for social distancing.

While a facemask will be required at the terminal, once onboard masks will not be required for vaccinated guests, which is in accordance with CDC guidelines.

“It is so exciting to announce yet another ship on the heels of Celebrity Millennium leading the industry’s Caribbean comeback to rave reviews just this past Saturday. From the outpouring of comments and emotion from our guests and crew on that sailing, it’s clear that people are ready to cruise back to normal,” said Celebrity Cruises President and CEO Lisa Lutoff-Perlo.

“We’ve all been waiting for the day we could get away, again, to the places we’ve been dreaming of and that ‘someday’ is here,” she added.

Equinox is now the ninth Celebrity ship to get a confirmed restart date, joining Millennium, Summit, Apex, Edge, Silhouette, and Celebrity’s three Galapagos-bound ships, Flora, Expedition, and Exploration.
