First Look: Two New Specialty Restaurants on MSC’s New Ship Virtuosa

MSC Virtuosa

Ahead of its spring debut in the Mediterranean, MSC Cruises this week unveiled some more details of MSC Virtuosa, the second of MSC’s Meraviglia-Plus class of ships after MSC Grandiosa.

The line has already revealed that the ship, which was delivered to MSC during a ceremony at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint Nazaire last month, will feature Rob, a new robotic bartender who will serve guests at the Starship Club. Now, the line is highlighting more of what the ship will offer for food and drink.

“Dining on board MSC Cruises ships is a gastronomic adventure with authentic food, globally inspired menus, and culinary artistry at the heart of our offering. As a company, we are in constant pursuit of new and exceptional experiences that showcase international cuisine, taking our guests on a gourmet journey of discovery,” MSC CEO Gianni Onorato said.

The big highlights from the unveil this week include two new specialty restaurants.

The first is called HOLA! Tacos & Cantina, a “fast-casual street food dining concept” that will offer Latin American and Mexican-inspired drinks and dishes.

Aside from the restaurant’s signature salsa bar, and a menu that includes blue corn tacos, empanadas, tamales, and more, HOLA! will offer a selection of 10 tequilas and mescals. The restaurant will also bring guests into the process, allowing them to opt for having their guacamole made for them or making it themselves at the table.

The second, Indochine, is a new original concept eatery for MSC, offering Vietnamese classics with a French twist. That menu will include vegetarian and vegan dishes, among other offerings, that guests can enjoy family-style.

That menu includes items such as Green Papaya Salads, Beef Bo Buns, French Roasted Snails, and Veggie Vietnamese Crêpes.

Overall, Virtuosa will sport 5 specialty restaurants, 5 main dining rooms, a 1,336- seat buffet, and 21 bars and lounges.

The specialty restaurants include some of the line’s signature eateries that debuted on other ships, such as Butcher’s Cut, Kaito Teppanyaki, and the Kaito Sushi Bar. The bars and lounges will also include some MSC staples such as the Champagne Bay, the Sky Lounge, and the British pub Master of the Sea.
