Florence’s Hotel Calimala to Add 65 Rooms
by Dori Saltzman
Hotel Calimala, a 38-room boutique hotel set in the Centro Storico neighborhood of Florence will be expanding with the addition of 65 rooms this October. The new rooms will be located in a neighboring building situated on Via dei Lamberti, just in front of the original hotel structure.
The hotel’s original east-facing structure is housed in a landmark 19th century Eclectic architecture-style building, while the new building is a westward facing structure with five floors, a chic restaurant, and state-of-the-art gym and wellness amenities.
Each of the 65 rooms is being meticulously designed by acclaimed architect Alex Meitlis (of Ottolenghi’s London restaurants). Meitlis will maintain the iconic design elements employed in the original building to ensure continuity of the hotel’s comfortable ambiance. Guests can expect plenty of natural light, along with breathtaking views of the city.
Rates start from 300 euros per night on a B&B basis.
